Dredge Fishing

Orkney's dredge fishery uses low-impact enviro-dredges with spines instead of bars to collect shellfish such as scallops

Orkney has a small dredge fishery that mainly focuses on King Scallops (Pecten maximus). Many of the fishermen only work as dredge fishermen for part of the year to make the fishery sustainable. They also take part in scientific studies to understand the dredge fishery better.
